I was first introduced to yoga in childhood by my father. Time and time again I returned to the mat to help me cope with difficult periods in my life. I renewed my yoga practice after being diagnosed with cancer in 2013, while also completing conventional medical treatments including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.
My supportive husband and daughter, extended family, friends, colleagues, Wellspring Cancer Support Centre (Oakville), and the Canadian health care community, significantly aided my recovery. Yoga became a complementary practice to help me regain physical function, and feel empowered in my newly changed body. In 2016 I completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program. I have over 450 hours of teaching experience and 100+ hours of continuing education training.
I spent 29 years working in university administration and student services, and consider myself a lifelong learner. My work in yoga provides me with an opportunity to study and learn - I will always be both a student and a teacher.
Yoga and meditation can be accessible to everyone regardless of age, body type, gender, or physical ability. My mission is to help adults improve mobility, physical function and enhance their mental health. I look forward to working with you!

"I was hesitant at first to try yoga, unsure if it would do me any good. But after taking my first class with Violet, I felt so relaxed and calm throughout the day, and felt more productive. This has inspired me to take more classes with Violet in the future."
